Description

In this module the Learner engages with the Interior Design process in the context of User Experience and within the context of the built environment-

Building Regulations, Codes of Practice, Conservation and Planning are areas of study.

Building materials, construction systems, technology, smart building management systems ( including integration with "The Internet of Things") and services are examined.

The role of sociology and psychology in relation to Human Factors, User Experience and Sustainability are considered.

In Studio the learner responds to a Project Brief using the different stratergies encountered to date as well as implementing new areas of study. Incremently sophisticated concepts and skills are developed and utilised. Advanced application of technology and consideration of the actuality of practice are engaged with.

 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate the implications of the appropriate Building, Planning, Conservation, Energy Regulations on Design and Budget considerations.

  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of building management and information systems( including the integration of "The Internet of Things"), utility services and technology as they are utilised within the Interior.

  3. Integrate User Experience and the Human Factor in their Design proposals.

  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate application of Building Fabric/Materials, their manufacturing processes and environmental impact.

  5. Present project outcomes in the form of physical and e-portfolio presentations, that are increasingly sophisticated in terms of ambition, concept, imagination and presentation.
