Introduction to Forensic Science

Description

This module introduces the learner to the area of Forensic Science. They will discover the historical developments of Forensics and Forensic Science in Ireland. Others areas of study include crime scene evidence recovery and the subsequent analysis in the laboratory of the evidence.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Outline the historical developments of forensic science.

  2. Recognise the common types of evidence found at crime scenes.

  3. Describe the role of the forensics scientists in crime scene investigations.

  4. Discuss the role played by forensics scientists in solving landmark crimes.

  5. Perform analysis on a variety of samples collected at a crime scenes.
