Introduction to Information Systems

This course provides a broad introduction to information systems, seen within organisational and societal contexts. The aim is to provide students with an appropriate balance of technical and organisational perspectives to serve as a basis for further study in the field.

1. Use collaborative tools in a networked environment

2. Demonstrate an introductory knowledge of the role of Information Systems in a modern business context

3. Describe and examine problems in maintaining data security and data protection

4. Demonstrate knowledge and appreciation of current developments in computing and IT

5. Organise and query data in a single-user database

6. Understand and apply basic programming techniques
