Why Study?: 

This Certificate in Applied Leadership and Management in GMIT has been designed to develop the leadership, managerial, and organisational skills of the Health and Social Care and Public Sector leader and manager.

 Students who complete the Certificate in Applied Leadership and Management may wish to progress to the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Leadership and Management and ultimately to the MSc in Applied Leadership and Management. 

 

The programme is designed around three key themes:

  1. Self-development;
  2. Impact on the team;
  3. Leader within the organisation

Programme Modules: 

This programme is delivered over 1 semester and it has 3 modules, and each module is worth 10 ETC credits at level 9.

  • Employment Law & Finance
  • Governance and Compliance for Quality

Career Opportunities: 

This programme offers an excellent opportunity for holders of the Cert. in Applied Leadership and Management to move to the next stage of their career.

This qualification will also enhance the graduate’s effectiveness as a leader and a manger in the position that they hold. 

Follow-on Studies: 

Students who complete the Certificate in Applied Leadership and Management may wish to progress to the  Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Leadership and Management

and ultimately to the MSc in Applied Leadership and Management. 

Entry Requirements: 

Entry requirements

The entry requirements for students entering these programmes is a H2.2 at Level 8.

Recognition of Prior Learning will be in line with GMIT Academic Code of Practice number 6.

Prospective students who hold a Level 7 degree may be recommended to undertake a Level 8 bridging module, for example, ‘Foundations in Research’, prior to commencing the programme.

Mode of delivery 

These programmes are designed for delivery on a residential basis. 

However, due to the current public health restrictions, the plan for 2021 is to deliver online.
