Literature and Landscape

This module studies examples of literary writing showing the relationship between individuals, communities and the environment. It also comprehends the genre of nature writing, with selections from major exponents in Ireland, Britain and North America.

1. understand the role played by nature and the landscape in the work of several major authors 

2. interpret a range of key moments in the development of nature and the landscape as objects of meaning and value

3. articulate different views of the environment as seen in literary representations

4. demonstrate an ability to undertake comparative and critical analysis of literature
