“Marine Litter: are there solutions to this global environmental challenge?” - Public talk, GMIT Galway campus

As part of the opening event of the second Ecology and Evolution Ireland Conference, GMIT will host a public talk by Professor Richard Thompson of University of Plymouth, UK on Thursday, 10th January, 2019.  The talk will take place in Theatre 1000, GMIT Galway campus, Dublin road, Galway at 7pm.

Professor Thompson is a renowned researcher and academic in the field of ocean microplastic research and his talk entitled “Marine Litter: are there solutions to this global environmental challenge?” will delve into the relationship between the societal benefits plastic offer us in our everyday lives and the knock-on impacts including entanglement it poses to ocean life.

Professor Thompson will also explore the challenges of reducing plastic litter and the need for all of us to consider the ways in which we use and dispose of plastic

Attendance is free and open to the public



This public plenary will open the second Ecology and Evolution Ireland Conference co-hosted between NUI Galway and GMIT with an exciting programme of oral and poster sessions with national and international plenary speakers, training events, workshops and networking opportunities.
