Accounting (Mayo Campus) - Louise McHugh

I thoroughly enjoyed my four years in GMIT Mayo which provided me with friendship, valuable learning experiences, values and skillset to become a better professional and a platform to pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant.

I graduated with a first class honours degree in Accounting and have since completed my ACA CAP 2 and Final Admitting Exams (FAEs) and successfully passed both on the first attempt gaining the ACA Chartered Accountants qualification.

I currently work in Deloitte as a Senior Audit Associate. Securing a full time post with one of the big four accounting firms in Ireland, and indeed globally, is something which I believe has set me up for life.

Working here has given me the opportunity to take on large amounts of responsibility very early in my career. It also provides world class experiences working with some of the best companies in the world. No other career offers the mobility that a Chartered Accountancy qualification does.

The course I completed in GMIT really stood to me in completing my ACA exams particularly my CAP 2 examinations as I had a good base and technical understanding of accounting standards from my studies in GMIT. It’s true what they say, all the hard work will be worth it in the end.
