BA in Human Resource Management (Mayo Campus) - Dermot O'Brien
Having this degree will give me more opportunities to advance my career within the trade union sector, as experience alone is not sufficient. It will give me further opportunities to enter the private sector upon retirement from my current role as my degree is current and more relative than it would have been thirty years ago.
As a Galway man I wanted to pursue a HR course that was based in the west of Ireland and the Mayo campus at GMIT ticked all the boxes. There is not a single negative experience in studying at GMIT Mayo.
The modules are both academic and practical which give an excellent mix of blended learning. The lecturers’ interaction with the students is far more personal due to the small class and campus size. Staff go above and beyond the call of duty in assisting and supporting students learning and while it was an adventure I wish I had undertaken years ago I am so happy that I chose the Mayo GMIT campus to be my college of choice when I did set off on one.
The enrichment and encouragement I got from all the staff and class mates who brought out the best in me will remain with me. I have fulfilled potential I knew was there but needed a push to get there.
