Medical Electronics

Description

The module introduces the Irish Health Technology industry. The procedures required to meet the I.S. EN 60601-1-2-2015 Medical Electrical Equipment Standard are presented. The module teaches the student how to design medical equipment that is safe for the operator and patient. The module examines the rigorous testing procedures required to ensure the relevant safety standards are met. Laboratory exercises examine electronic circuits needed for precise measurement. Data issues and security in SaMD (software as medical device) is explored. The student will generate accurate technical documentation.
