GMIT Science student

GMIT's Department of Natural Sciences offers a variety of science degrees with a strong applied focus. 

Courses in this department are as follows:

  • Agricultural and Environmental Management (GMIT Mountbellew/Galway campuses)
  • Applied Freshwater and Marine Biology
  • Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science
  • Forensic Science & Analysis
  • Public Health Nutrition
  • Sport and Exercise Science

There is strong emphasis on learning by 'doing' to develop practical knowledge and critical thinking skills.

All degrees also include a work placement.

GMIT and Munster Technological University (MTU) have received funding from Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) to host the regional heat of the VEX Robotics Programme in the west of Ireland this academic year.

Last Friday, 10 September 2021, the President of GMIT, Dr Orla Flynn, welcomed the French Ambassador to Ireland, HE Vincent Guérend, to GMIT along with delegates from the French Embassy.
