ATU HOSTS NETWORKING EVENT FOR HR PRACTITIONERS IN BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY, AND CURRENT AND PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

Event includes formal launch of L8 BA (Hons) in Human Resource Management
 

Atlantic Technological University (ATU) School of Business is holding a networking event at its Mayo campus on Friday, 10 March 2023, for Human Resource practitioners in local business and industry, and current and prospective students including employees wishing to upskill or change careers.

Representatives from Boston Scientific, Hollister Ulc, Ireland West Airport, Portwest, Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group and People Matters will attend the event which will take the form of a panel discussion on Human Resource Management and how employees can move into HR management roles.

The event will include the formal launch of ATU’s new Level 8 Bachelor of Arts Honours in Human Resource Management which commenced delivery on the Mayo campus earlier this academic year (2022/23). The new course is delivered in a blended format of two days on site (on campus) per month, online study and two residential weekends over the academic year.

 The panel discussion with industry representatives will be co-chaired by Michael Gill, Head of Department of Organisational Development and Caroline Clarke, Programme Chair, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Human Resource Management.

Dr Seamus Lennon, Head of School of Business, ATU Galway Mayo, says supporting part-time learners and talent development in this region is of paramount importance to the new university, specifically in the continually evolving areas of human resource management.”

Michael Gill, ATU Galway Mayo Head of Department of Organisational Development, says: “This programme has been developed in response to a regional need and will develop HR managers and practitioners in both the private and public sector.  We have listened carefully to employers and as a result the programme is focused and applied to achieving positive results in the workplace.”

Caroline Clarke, Programme Chair, ATU Galway Mayo, says: “The programme is delivered over two days a month on the Mayo campus and is supplemented with online supports and two residential weekends. It is designed in this way so that busy working people can combine both their work and study commitments.”

The programme is accredited by the Chartered Institute Personnel of Development (CIPD) and graduates will be eligible for Associated Membership of the CIPD.
