“Refracted” by student Dawid Janek.

Students of the Master of Arts in Creative Practice at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Galway City are holding their end of year show titled “Refraction” in the Wellpark campus, Galway city, from 16 September. The show will be officially opened at 6pm by Gary McMahon, Galway City Arts Officer, and will run until Culture Night, Friday 23 September 2022.

The exhibition features the work of eight postgraduate students who came from different disciplines ranging from Visual Art, Fiction Film, Documentary, Graphic Design, Sound Design, Photography and Scriptwriting.

Defining the title of their show, the students say: “The dictionary defines refraction as the deflection of a light ray from a straight path, its passing from one medium into another with a different velocity. As the world slowly seeps back to some semblance of normality, you are invited this September to an Exhibition of our work at the School of Design and Creative Arts, ATU Galway city (Wellpark). We hope to see you there.”

Celine Curtin, Head of Department Creative Arts & Media, ATU Galway-Mayo, says: “This exhibition is a wonderful celebration of our MA students’ work and enhances the dynamic creative environment of our campus as we welcome our new students and the return of our continuing students.”
