Eamon Walsh has been appointed Head of Department of Graduate and Professional Studies at Atlantic Technological University

Eamon Walsh has been appointed Head of Department of Graduate and Professional Studies at Atlantic Technological University. Eamon joined Galway Mayo Institute in 2014 as a lecturer in Software Development at the Department of Computer Science and Applied Physics in the School of Science. His specialist teaching areas included Web Technologies, Cloud Computing and Computer Architecture.

Eamon served as Head of Department of Enterprise & Technology in the School of Business for six years and most recently as Project Innovation Manager on the Higher Education 4.0 project, an innovation project funded through the Human Capital Initiative.

Eamon has over 20 years industry experience, working for both multi-nationals in Ireland and overseas and SMEs in technical and management roles including running his own business for 10 years. In 2009 his company won an ITAG award for innovation in business in the area of Computer Virtualisation. Eamon has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Applied Physics & Electronics and an MBA both from NUI Galway.

His research interests include Digital Credentials and Personal Information Management. Eamon is involved in a number of community groups where he lives and has been a long-time campaigner for rights for people with disabilities and held a number of executive board positions during his career for registered disability charities.
