The Moy bursary programme has been established across participating third-level educational providers in Ireland. Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) is delighted to partner with MOY again this year in supporting the 4th year students of the BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology programme.

The bursary reflects the strong affiliation between MOY and GMIT that has developed over the past 12 years through student awards and industry presentations.

There were four Architectural Technology final year students shortlisted for the Moy Bursary: Oisin Boyle, Filip Hutman, Cathal Macken and Oskar Mrozik. The short-listed students were assessed on the basis of their Architectural Technology Studio project-work and a personal statement.

The judging panel, Mr Brian Conroy, Moy Technical Advisor and Ms Liz Mc Gonigal, Moy Marketing and Communications Director, interviewed the short-listed students and announced Filip Hutman from Ballyhaunis Co Mayo as this year’s winner of the Moy Bursary 2021.

In announcing details of the bursary, Mary Rogers, Head of Department of Building and Civil Engineering at GMIT said:

“On behalf of our students we welcome the generosity of MOY Materials in sponsoring this student bursary again this year. It has been a particularly difficult year for our students where restrictions due to Covid-19 restrictions has impacted on the normal student experience. In spite of this, Moy have continued their very welcome support for our students. Over the past 12 years, GMIT’s affiliation with MOY has aided our students in garnering first-hand knowledge of the construction process and the profession."

The Architectural Technology programme at GMIT is professionally accredited by the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) and the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and graduates are formally recognised as competent Architectural Technologists within the sector.
