GMIT awards student scholarships worth €55,000

37 students presented with academic, sports and Access scholarships at 2013 ceremony

GMIT and the GMIT Students Union awarded scholarships to 37 first year students this year (2013) in recognition of their academic and sports achievements on commencement of their GMIT studies.

Recipients of the GMIT Academic Scholarships are pictured below with GMIT President Michael Carmody (centre) at a special ceremony in the g Hotel, Galway, on Thursday 5 December, L to R:

Kim Louise Moore from Ballinasloe, a student on the BA in Film & Documentary programme, and a past pupil of Holy Rosary College, Mountbellew, Co Galway;

Phelim Ryan from Crossmolina, Co Mayo, a student on the BSc (Hons) in Medical Science, and a past pupil of Gortnor Abbey Jesus & Mary Convent, Crossmolina;

Kristina Kudupa from Athlone, Co Westmeath, studying a BBs (Hons), and a past pupil of Our Lady's Bower, Athlone, Co Westmeath;

Aoife Gibsey from Headford, Co Galway, studying a BBs in General Nursing in GMIT Mayo, and a past pupil of Presentation College, Headford, Co Galway; GMIT President Michael Carmody;

Kegan Fox from Oranmore, Co Galway, studying a BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology, and a past pupil of Calasanctius College, Oranmore, Co Galway,

Karl Elliffe from Ballinasloe, Co Galway, studying a BSc (Hons) in Design & Technology Education (mature student) and a past pupil of Athlone Community College, Athlone, Co Westmeath,

and Donnchadha Patrick O'Connor from Listowel, Co Kerry, studying a BA (Hons) in Film & Documentary, and a past pupil of Tarbert Comprehensive School, Tarbert, Co Kerry.

GMIT also presented a range of sports scholarships in partnership with the GMIT Students Union, and Access scholarships to first year students in the college.
