GMIT Careers Service launch online CV tool to assist students as they enter the jobs market
The GMIT Careers Service is delighted to launch a new online CV tool for GMIT students called “CareerSet” to support them 24/7 as they prepare to enter the competitive placement and jobs market.
The new resource enhances the current virtual career supports offered by GMIT, to ensure high quality CV standards and improve student employability, prior to them submitting job applications.
GMIT Careers Officer Bridie Killoran says: “The tool itself uses AI to assess CVs and gives immediate feedback to improve it. Students will get an overall CV rating with targeted suggestions to ensure they make it as effective as possible. It gives actionable steps to optimize CVs and to tailor them to specific job opportunities. It is designed to support students before they meet with a Career Advisor for further guidance.”
“We are really excited about the launch of our first online CV tool. It will have a significant impact on addressing specific student needs and improving students’ employability. Students can upload their CVs at any time and receive expert advice in an instant. It must be highlighted however that this service is not intended to replace the input of a careers adviser and students are recommended to contact an adviser after they have used this initial screening service, to get the final draft of their CV signed-off.”

The online CV tool is one of a range of supports for GMIT students. The Careers Service launched an online “Careers Module” earlier this year (2020). Over 300 students have enrolled on this 5-credit module which is supported by up-to-date psychometric assessment tools, CV review software and online interview software. It is delivered in a blended format with a suite of career workshops delivered on TEAMS.
