Press Release

Rossa White, Chief Economist with the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA), will deliver a lecture on “Characterising Ireland’s financial cycle” to GMIT business students in the Galway campus on Friday, 29 November, at 11am (Room 1039). Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Rossa will be speaking about how the interaction between financial variables such as credit and property prices may lead to turning points in the economy. He will explain what the current lending environment implies for this cycle and why it’s different from the last one.

Economics lecturer Marie Finnegan, GMIT School of Business, says: “Rossa is able to illustrate to the students difficult economic concepts in a very accessible and practical way.”

Rossa White is Chief Economist in the NTMA since September 2010. He is also responsible for the State’s investor relations programme. He played a lead role in the team that brought Ireland back to the bond market following the crisis of 2010. He was promoted to Deputy Director in 2013. Rossa joined the NTMA from J&E Davy where he became Chief Economist in 2008. He began his career at Davy in 2002.
