Being Well & Living Well and Academic Success Epigeum Online Courses

As part of the iNOTE project, the CUA collaborated with Oxford University Press / Epigeum, who developed an interactive, online toolkit in collaboration with mental health experts, higher education professionals, and college students and staff, to help students maintain their mental, physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing. Through a range of interactive activities, real student voices, and sophisticated pedagogy, the Being Well, Living Well Toolkit equips students with the practical tools and knowledge needed to develop strategies for coping and prevention.

The toolkit’s variety of resources help students to develop the confidence to manage wellbeing issues they may face and understand that they are not alone in experiencing challenges in their academic and personal lives – whilst also providing guidance on supporting their friends, and signposting when and where to seek further support if needed. With a flexible, modular structure, the online toolkit allows students to dip in and out of the resources anytime, anywhere in an online ‘safe space’, enabling GMIT to maximise student engagement and integrate the toolkit into existing wellbeing initiatives, freeing up face-to-face support for crisis cases. The course is currently available to all GMIT students.

GMIT offer an additional Oxford University Press / Epigeum course, that has been embedded into GMIT First Year Experience and it is available to all GMIT students under the LIS module for a number of years. Academic Success: Skills for Learning, Skills for Life online course consists of a suite of three online modules, that tackle the challenge many universities are facing in the increasingly competitive and scrutinised world of undergraduate education. Deciding to go to university is now a significant investment, and students are keener than ever to see a ‘return’ in terms of career prospects and employability. The courses are written by subject experts and will equip, empower and enable students to get the most out of their university or college experience, strengthening

student satisfaction and retention. This course is designed for undergraduate students entering higher education for the first tim
