Pathophysiology and Epidemiology

Description

This module will provide an extensive opportunity to investigate prominent human diseases and current seminal research on aetiologies of diseases. The module will promote critical thinking, ethics and professionalism. Students will be informed of the literature, current theories and research underpinning disease aetiologies and pathophysiology.

  1. Critically discuss analytical and descriptive epidemiology.

  2. Calculate and interpret epidemiological measures of disease within the context of public health research.

  3. Explain how to design an epidemiological study to ensure that it is ethical and accurate.

  4. Critically evaluate the aetiology, risk factors and pathophysiology of prominent human diseases.
