Pattern Drafting and Construction 3

Description

This module builds on skills learnt in Pattern Drafting and Construction 1 & 2. It enables the learner to engage with fundamental and advanced aspects of creative pattern cutting and construction. It focuses on the development of creative concepts into 3D outcomes. Pattern grading, draping and tailoring are introduced. Learners continue to apply machine skills to garment construction. This module links to the studio module and students develop and refine pattern shapes for apparel details that may be realised in fabrics of their own design.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Draft patterns using correct grading techniques to industry or individual measurements

  2. Develop fashion drawings and technical flats from own designs

  3. Explore a variety of methods of producing patterns to include draping, tailoring techniques and toiles

  4. Evaluate appropiate construction methods to realise in cloth, apparel and details to own design
