Research Skills in Nursing Practice

Description

This module aims to provide students with the ability to critically analyse research findings and to construct a research proposal.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Undertake an extensive critical appraisal of available literature on a topic of choice, related to the student’s area of practice.

  2. Construct clear, manageable and specific research questions/hypotheses, which are informed through critical appraisal of relevant literature.

  3. Critically evaluate the different research designs used in nursing research.

  4. Discuss the validity and reliability of research instruments for the collection of data, which are appropriate to the research question/hypothesis and the target population under investigation.

  5. Analyse the ethical issues associated with nursing research.

  6. Present a written research proposal.
