Freshwater and Marine Biology Graduate - Imelda Hehir
Imelda Hehir currently works in the Fisheries Ecosystems Advisory Services (FEAS) in the Marine Institute as a Fisheries scientist and researcher. Her job involves a wide variety of tasks including data collection and ageing of commercial species, analysis of fisheries and ecosystem data, participation on research surveys including roles as Chief Scientist and Deckmaster. All this work feeds into fish stock assessment and provision of management advice. Imelda’s educational background includes a Graduate BSc degree in Freshwater and Marine Biology and a BSc degree in Environmental Science; also a Masters entitled ‘Age, Growth and Reproductive Biology of whiting (Merlangius merlangus) in the Celtic Sea’.
