Sustaining Practice
Description
This module facilitates Level 8 Contemporary Art students in developing their knowledge in relation to professional strategies and platforms that may contribute to the sustenance of their practice going forward as Arts practitioners. Kinds of practice are explored as models for 'Sustaining Practice' as are strategic arts organisations, funding applications, supports, grant aids, studio facilities, opportunities, residencies and platforms such as creating a web-site and exploiting social media platforms to promote arts practice, events and exhibitions. Inclusivity, sustainable practices going forward and employability are key aspects of the module.
Learning Outcomes
Engage with and contribute to the group discussions of the professional practice seminar series
Document the range of types of practice covered in the module
Research thoroughly aspects of practice relevant to the student
Prepare documentation necessary to meeting their public
Develop a web-based e-portfolio to document and present their practice which can act as a professional web presence where appropriate
