Technical Design Report

Description

The Technical Design Report is a supervised research project accompanied by a supporting lecture programme. The module is designed to develop the learner's ability to engage in structured research and to present their research in the form of a written technical design report, an academic poster and a formal presentation.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the steps in the research process.

  2. Identify an architectural technology related research topic of suitable scope and devise a viable research framework.

  3. Conduct and manage a research project and demonstrate independent learning and thinking.

  4. Evaluate various methods of knowledge acquisition and select appropriate research methods.

  5. Critically analyse the data collected and assess its significance.

  6. Synthesise results and formulate appropriate conclusions and recommendations, thereby demonstrating a systematic understanding of a specific area of study.

  7. Write a comprehensive report in the prescribed format and deliver a professional presentation on the research findings.

  8. Articulate the findings of the research in a non-technical manner in an academic poster.
