Textile Fabrication

Description

This is an award stage module where students develop their own personal design vision within the context of contemporary and evolving textile trends and markets. A distinctive feature sees students assimilate specialist fashion design skills into their core textile design project. The aim is to create a synergism where learning in both textiles and fashion fields is successfully combined. Students develop their own textile collection for fashion applications produced on the linked module 'Fashion Directions' (also undertaken in Semester 8). Students' prior pathway choices will influence the processes used e.g. printed, knitted, woven or embroidered techniques. Students draft individually tailored projects in consultation with staff encompassing textiles for Menswear, Womenswear and /or Accessory design. The module encourages the professionalism, innovation and creativity expected in the competitive environment of fashion.
