Bachelor of Arts in Heritage Studies - Alanah Lydon
Hearing a flurry of very positive feedback from friends and former students at St. Enda’s College in Salthill where Alanah went to Secondary School, was enough to convince her to sign up for a BA in Heritage Studies at GMIT, Galway.
Falling in love with the Folklore Module immediately, meant that her initail experience at GMIT was so much better than expected.
“The campus, while buzzing and quite busy, is small enough to get around. There was never any fear of getting lost in throngs of people and everyone I have met, and become friends with, are all very grounded people.”
Loving all the practical coursework demanded of her, Alanah is thriving in her field and finds that she learns so much faster when engaged in hands-on projects.
Alanah stressed while the small sized classes is of huge importance to her, it was the accessibility to the lecturers that has made the biggest impact on her thus far.
“Every lecturer I have had so far, has been extremely approachable. No matter what I have needed help with, I have always felt I could ask for it, and they have always responded. They really get involved with every student in the entire class.”
