Tourism Industry Skills


This module will introduce learners to practical skills associated with the hotel, hospitality and tourism industry, including a practical introduction to the discipline areas of accommodation, front of house operations and practical experience of food & beverage service.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate the main elements of front of house and front office operations.

  2. Demonstrate technical abilities and skills in the practical delivery of restaurant service.

  3. Demonstrate with competence and creativity practical skills in bar and beverage service.

  4. Demonstrate an ability to organise as well as carry out the servicing of different categories of guest rooms to the standard required by a commercial establishment.

  5. Identify best practice within the accommodation department of a hotel, with an emphasis on current trends including interior designs, planned maintenance systems and environmental considerations.
