Generating Evidence for Healthcare Practice and Improvement

Description

This module supports the learner’s acquisition of knowledge about research and its application to practice. The learner will be supported by an individual supervisor to enable them to complete a research portfolio to generate evidence, which will support the learner’s individual area of practice through the development of a research portfolio 

1. Critically evaluate evidence using iterative structured approaches and original research designs.
2. Critically discuss the ethical implications of conducting research in a healthcare setting.
3. Engage in the dissemination of their work.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Critically discuss the conceptual and/or theoretical underpinnings of research designs/approaches.

  2. Formulate research aims, objectives, and questions/hypotheses.

  3. Prepare a protocol for the conduct of a research project or structured iterative review.

  4. Critically discuss the ethical principles governing research practice.

  5. Complete a focused piece of scholarly research.

  6. Critically appraise contemporary approaches in data collection, data analysis and interpretation of findings.

  7. Demonstrate the ability to:
    i. Produce a paper based on a critical analysis of their completed research project or iterative review, that is ready for submission to an academic journal;
    ii. Develop an abstract based on a critical analysis of their completed research project/iterative review that is ready for submission as a conference presentation.
