This module will give students a grounding in the area of Intellectual Property law specifically in the areas of Trademarks, Patents and Copyright.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Explain the overall legal framework governing intellectual property.

  2. Explain what can and cannot be patented.

  3. Explain what can and cannot be trademarked and explain the process for filing trade mark applications.

  4. Have an indepth knowledge of copyright and design laws, what they protect and how they are enforced as well as understanding infringement issues and defences available
