Introduction to the Hospitality and Tourism Industry

Description

This module introduces the learner to the tourism and hospitality industry on a national and international level. The aim is to develop an understanding for the learner of the role they may play in the world’s largest industry.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop an introductory understanding of the hospitality industry.

  2. Develop an introductory understanding of the tourism industry.

  3. Recognise and understand the different types and structures of accommodation and food & beverage operations.

  4. Identify the impacts of tourism, economically; socio-culturally; and environmentally.

  5. Develop an awareness of key organisations in the tourism & hospitality industry, both public and private; nationally and internationally.

  6. Establish a link between theory and industry using examples and cases studies.
