Irish Biogeography and Natural History

The course covers the natural history of Ireland and man's impact on the Irish landscape. Topics include the flora and fauna of Ireland, the habitats of Ireland and the influence of people on these habitats.

1. Recognize the major habitats in Ireland and their characteristic fauna and flora.

2. Understand the ecological history of these habitats.

3. Appreciate the role of people in shaping the ecology of present day Ireland.

4. Be familiar with the major sources of information on Irish Natural History

5. Plan and execute simple investigations in natural heritage.
