Coolarne schoolboy wins GMIT Building & Civil drawing competition

Schoolboy Marc Boland from Coolarne, Co Galway, won first prize of a Lego lighthouse kit in the GMIT Department of Building and Civil Engineering drawing competition in the Science and Technology Festival at the weekend (Sun 25 Nov 2012). Marc’s drawing shows the lighthouse on Valentia, a scene he knows well as his mother Anne grew up across the bay from the lighthouse. Marc was one of 105 entrants in the GMIT competition.

The GMIT Department of Building and Civil Engineering hosted a very popular stand at the Galway Science and Technology Festival, focusing on Lego building and drawing, skills children enjoy which also help develop engineers and builders of the future.
