Executive Board member Dr Des Foley
Des Foley was appointed Head of School of Science and Computing in 2003.
Prior to that, he spent twelve years with Elan Corporation in Athlone where he held a range of positions in Research and Development and Operations.
In R&D, he was head of the section responsible for the development of transdermal patches. His operational experience was as Head of Training and as Director of Human Resources.
He has an honours degree from University College Dublin and a Ph.D. from the University of Dublin (Trinity College) where his research concentrated on transdermal patches and the skin.
He is chairman of the Association of Heads of Science of the Institutes of Technology, and has served on a number of steering groups within the IOT sector.
