The Student Union is dedicated to enhancing the student experience and advocating for the needs and interests of all students. We believe in fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and personally.

We have a wide range of activities for every student on campus such as clubs and societies, events all year round and so much more!

Sarah Mohan is the elected Chief Executive Officer of the union, serving as the voice of students. She works closely with university management and external organisations to ensure the student voice is being heard and concerns are being addressed. She represents students on all major decision-making bodies within ATU Galway-Mayo, including Governing Body, Academic Council and many more. Sarah oversees the daily running of the union and ensures student money is being spent on the correct resources and facilities. This role requires a passion for representing student interests, fostering a sense of unity, and driving positive change within the campus community.

Deputy President for Education

Caoimhe Miley deals with issues surrounding all things academic life. This includes matters such as timetables, exams, appeals, study supports and grants. She runs all education campaigns and even hands out study stationary around exam times. Caoimhe is also in charge of the elections, training, supporting Class Reps. A monthly Class Rep Council is held to share information, ideas and discuss current topics with all elected class reps within ATU Galway-Mayo

Vice President for Mayo

Anuoluwapo Akinsola offers support for all things associated with a student’s wellbeing. This includes a confidential, listening ear and a knowledge of referral services on issues such as mental and physical health, sexual health, finances, accommodation as well as your general safety while in college. She also runs campaigns related to student life and wellbeing such as SHAG week, Mental Health Month, Freshers week and much, much more. Anu is the main event organiser and runs both big and small activities all year round whether there is a reason to do so or not!

Caoimhe Ward ensures that students on our Mayo campus are equally represented and get support on all academic matters. She is there to enhance the student experience and wellbeing of all on campus. There is a vast range of activities both on and off campus for everyone to enjoy including things like Halloween games, random nights out in Westport and anything else you can think of. Caoimhe is also involved in the running of clubs and societies on the Castlebar campus spreading from the media soc. to the rock-climbing club!
