Catering at ATU Galway campus

All Catering onsite is provided by ATU’s catering services. 

The Food Zone is the main dining area on Campus providing fresh and when possible, locally sourced food for breakfast, lunch and evening meals up to 8pm.

There are two Barista style Cafes - The Barista & The Grumpy Mule. 

The Food Zone

The Food Zone includes a self-service cooked breakfast offering, a healthy fruit & granola bar, homemade scone variety, fresh baked pastries and muffins, freshly made to order sandwiches, wraps and paninis filled with a choice of hot or cold fillings, Homemade Gluten Free Soup, an extensive salad bar, sandwiches, a range of coffees/teas, minerals, confectionery and desserts, fresh fruit.

Barista Bar

The Barista Bar is a quick Grab 'N' Go area in the FOOD ZONE, designed to offer a speedy service for those in a rush. This includes a barista cafe service, iced drinks, speciality bean to cup coffee, cappuccinos, lattes, tea, minerals, juices, soup as well as pastries, scones, pre-made sandwiches fruit and chocolate bars are available.

The Grumpy Mule

The Grumpy Mule located at the Cafe Foyer offers the following:

  • Beverages
  • Barista Coffees, Iced Drinks
  • Bewley’s Fairtrade Tea, Herbal Teas 
  • Homemade scone selection served with butter & preserves               
  • Selection of Muffins, Pastries, Brownie 
  • Sandwiches, Baguettes & Wraps
  • Selection of Chocolate Bars, Crisps, Fruit, Juices & Drinks

Events, Hospitality and Summer Schools

ATU Catering services can provide a range of catering options for working lunches, meetings and conferences on-site for up to 1000 people. For events on campus. Packages can be tailored to suit your needs. 

Hospitality 

A range of delivered food and beverage options are available including breakfast options, light snacks & refreshments, alternatively it is possible to visit one of our outlets onsite (a number of on-site cafes & restaurants to choose from with seating capacity for up to 450 people). Summer Schools

ATU facilitates summer programmes for juniors in partnership with a number of Irish and International Language schools. Programmes are available in June, July and August.

Catering for Summer schools, Christmas & Easter Camps and training courses is also provided by ATU Catering Services. Take away options are available for day trips.

Vending

There are a range of vending options conveniently located through­out the campus.

Sustainability

Currently Paper, Cardboard, Plastic, Plastic Bottles, Clingfilm, Buckets, Milk cartons, Yoghurt cartons, Tins, Cans, Coffee cups are recycled.  Food waste and coffee grinds are segregated and are sent for composting. Coffee grinds are also available free of charge for gardening and are provided in plastic food buckets for use as compost. We have signed up to the re-turn scheme. 

A waste food reduction project is being undertaken with a view to identifying and reducing preventable food waste. 

Supplier Information

Supplies are purchased using the etenders procurement website and contracts run for a number of years. etenders has been developed by the Department of Finance and is designed to help find tender notices on government and public sector procurement across Ireland.
