Connecting Students and Industry

The LINKS Office in ATU Galway International Hotel School:

  • Works with hospitality and tourism students to support and advise on work placement opportunities. Work placement is a mandatory part of all hospitality and tourism courses.

  • Engages with hospitality and tourism partners worldwide. This ensures students have opportunities to undertake work placement and seek employment in a country of their choice.

  • Oversees the Schools Liaison programme, meets students from secondary schools and organises tours of the Galway International Hotel School and the ATU campus.

  • Plans and manages all Open Day activities for the Galway International Hotel School.

  • Reaches out to alumni all over the world ensuring they are kept up to date with the latest news and developments from ATU.

  • Organises the annual Galway International Hotel School Fair in March each year.

GMIT Galway International Hotel School Careers Fair

The Annual Galway International Hotel School Tourism & Hospitality Careers Fair is becoming more successful each year and provides Industry Partners, the perfect platform in which to recruit students, graduands, and alumni, for their respective properties for the forthcoming season.

The Fair has grown each year since it commenced over 23 years ago, and now attracts representatives from the Hotel, Tourism and Hospitality industry each year from Ireland, UK, Europe and the USA ,who make it an annual event to attend on their recruitment calendars. This year we will be working with our technology partner Careers Fair Plus to host our upcoming virtual career fair, to create an intuitive, user-friendly experience for candidates and employers.

This is an invaluable opportunity, should a business wish to recruit students, graduants and alumni for summer work, work placement, graduate programmes and permanent positions. The Fair is open to all students and alumni of the Hotel School as well as students from other disciplines within GMIT.

The Galway International Hotel School Career Fair will take place virtually on Wednesday March 24th 1.30-4pm.  Industry Partners are invited to register their interest in participating at the fair by contacting the team in the LINKS office – . The Closing date for registration is 5pm on Wednesday the 10th of March.  Students will then be able to download the Career Fair Plus App and start making appointments.
