Department of Creative Education

Post-primary and post-graduate courses in teacher education

The Department of Creative Education offers undergraduate programmes in post-primary teaching and post-graduate programmes for those wishing to enhance their teaching and learning skills through career development.

The department has strong links with both the Teaching Council and initial teacher education providers.

GMIT is also part of the Western Institute of Studies in Education (WISE), an alliance with the National University of Ireland, Galway and St. Angela's College, Sligo.

Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Education (Design, Graphics and Construction)

A four-year, full-time course for those interested in becoming a post-primary teacher for Construction Studies and Design and Communication Graphics.

Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Art, Design and Graphics

A four-year honours degree designed to provide a pathway for students to teach both Art and Design and Communication Graphics in Irish secondary schools.

Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning

The department also offer an MA in Teaching and Learning for academics who wish to develop and enhance their teaching and research skills in an applied manner.
