Mechanics & Thermodynamics

Description

This module deals with the conceptual and theoretical aspects of mechanics and thermodynamics. Complimentary practical skills and knowledge are gained in a laboratory setting.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand mechanical concepts and the behaviour of physical bodies when subjected to forces or displacements.

  2. Employ mathematical techniques and methods to solve mechanical problems.

  3. Understand heat and temperature and their relation to energy and work.

  4. Employ mathematical techniques and methods to solve thermodynamic problems.

  5. Experimentally investigate various mechanics and thermodynamic systems.
