GMIT Open Evenings on part-time, Springboard+ and flexible delivery courses

Thurs 5 Sept, 6-8pm (Dublin Road, Galway campus) and Thurs 12 Sept, 5-8pm (Mayo campus, Castlebar)

GMIT’s Graduate and Professional Development Office will host an Open Evening on Thursday, 5 September (6-8pm) about the extensive range of part-time, Springboard+ and flexible courses available in both the Galway and Mayo campuses, commencing this month (Sept) and January 2020. GMIT’s Mayo campus will hold an Open Evening on the same theme on Thursday, 12 September (5-8pm). These events are opportunities for anyone interested in upskilling or returning to education to come along and find out more.

The range of contemporary, industry-informed courses include: Accounting; Climate Resilience for Business; Cybersecurity; Digital Media & Marketing; Human Resource Management; Manufacturing Engineering; Marine Science; Media and Creative Arts; Quality for Industry; Quality and Safety for Healthcare and Social Care; Procedural Sedation; Software Development and Data Analytics; Supervisory Management and Teaching and Learning.

This year also sees the launch of the new post-graduate courses in Sports and Exercise Nutrition and in Palliative and End of Life Care. 

GMIT careers advisors will be available for consultation throughout the evening. 

Some of these programmes are funded under the Springboard initiative. Further information will be available from advisors during the evening. 

Dónal Loftus, Director, Graduate and Professional Development, GMIT Galway campus, says: “We are delighted to offer these new courses which have been designed following collaboration with local, national and international industries to ensure our offerings provide our students with the skills they need to succeed in the workplace. Our flexible modes of teaching also accommodate the increasing demands on our students’ time”.          

Dr Deirdre Garvey, Senior Lecturer, Lifelong Learning, GMIT Mayo Campus, says: “We have worked closely with the Regional Skills Forum also in understanding the needs of employers in the region and we hope that the blended mode of delivery will also provide flexibility to individuals in managing their commitments and developing their skills”.

Galway’s Open Evening event takes place in the GMIT Dublin Road campus on Thursday, 5 September, 6pm to 8pm. Mayo’s Open Evening takes place in the Castlebar campus on Thursday 12 September, 5pm to 8pm.
