Katharine West announced as new Fulbright Ambassador at GMIT

The Fulbright Commission is delighted to announce that Katharine West, lecturer in Ceramics, Contemporary Art and Industrial Design at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) Centre for Creative Arts and Media (CCAM), is the new Fulbright Alumni Ambassador for GMIT.
The Fulbright Commission in Ireland annually awards grants for Irish citizens to study, research, or teach in the US and for Americans to do the same in Ireland. The aim of the Fulbright Alumni Ambassador programme is to have a contact on-campus so that students, researchers & lecturers can easily access guidance on how to approach their Fulbright applications.
A Fulbright Awardee to the New York State College of Ceramics Alfred University in 1988, Katharine currently lectures in Ceramics, Contemporary Art and Industrial Design at the Centre for Creative Arts and Media at GMIT and makes work from her studio in Roscahill, Co Galway.
Katharine takes on the Fulbright Ambassador mantle from Dr Ian McLoughlin who has served in this role at GMIT for the last two years and has contributed greatly to enhanced engagement on campus. Dr Patrick Mannion, Assistant Lecturer in Computing at GMIT, was awarded a Fulbright-TechImpact Scholarship to the Collaborative Robotics and Intelligent Systems Institute at Oregon State University for 2018-2019.
The 2020-2021 Fulbright Irish Award Application Period opens on 28 August 2019. Staff, researchers and students can find out more about Fulbright opportunities by attending the GMIT Fulbright Information Session at 3pm, 12th March in Room 1041 in the New Building, all welcome.
