Operations Management and Project Management
Description
The core function of an Organisations operations is to deliver quality goods and services that meet the needs of its customers/clients/users.There are many layers to the operation process such as strategy formation, people and material acquisition, planning and scheduling, assembling and delivering, budgeting, multi-stakeholder collaboration etc. In order for operations to produce a successful outcome each layer of the process requires effective management to achieve the overall goal. Project management is crucial to the operations function because it enables effective planning and execution through various objectives that ensure a quality good/service can be delivered to the end user on time, within budget and as specified. This module will examine various project management strategies used by the operations manager in transforming components into final products. Students will learn and apply skills to achieve specific goals by delivering a project devised by their respective team.
