Ed Daly has over thirteen years’ experience in sports coach education and more than five years of lecturing experience in third-level institutes.
His focus is to actively build research collaborations which focus on concussion and CTE on a national and international level. Ed's particular areas of interest are concussion identification, treatment and reduction methodologies.
He is a co-author with Dr Alan Pearce (La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia) and Dr Doug King (Hutt Valley Hospital, New Zealand) on concussion reduction strategies.
Before moving to a career in lecturing, Ed worked in professional sports and spent over ten years as a coach with Munster Rugby, coaching age-grade players on the professional player development pathway.
Ed holds an MSc in Strength and Conditioning (Limerick Institute of Technology) and has accreditation in IRFU S&C Level 1, World Rugby S&C Level 1 and as a World Rugby Coach Educator.
He is also a qualified sports injury therapist focused on biomechanics, with significant experience in the applied aspect of resistance training/weightlifting techniques with IRFU/Munster S&C staff for age-grade players.
Ed is currently a PhD researcher focused on investigating concussion identification, concussion management and concussion reduction strategies.
