Advance group work, conflict resolution and mediation

Description

This module aims to develop the learner's ability to communicate and problem-solve within a wide range of situations and circumstances.  This will include recognising and analysing the processes involved in conflict management and conflict resolution.  This will include consideration being given to intercultural conflict.   Furthermore, the student will be encouraged to critically assess actions that can be taken to address interpersonal, intergroup and international conflict at an individual or organisational level. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Distinguish between theories and concepts involved in conflict resolution, conflict management and mediation 

  2. Critically evaluate the concepts and theories involved in conflict resolution, conflict management and mediation 

  3. Develop the skills to change personal or team practices when confronted with conflict

  4. Reflect on conflict and its impact on professional practice 

  5. Analyse and develop responses to conflict at an individual and organisational level
