Description
This module addresses currently emerging needs of new skills within the Civil Engineering industry. It looks at efficient multidisciplinary collaboration through the design and construction processes, enabling the delivery of integrated design and solutions with the support of advanced technologies, such as BIM. It will support students responding to current and future challenges in client expectations and societal needs. It addresses the use of 3D and higher dimension modelling relevant to the Civil Engineering Industry.

Define the principals, theory and applications of Building Information Modelling and Construction Informatics.
Construct a digital model in CAD/BIM Software
Select appropriate construction documentation from the model to assess engineering design and quantities.
Apply technology effectively to produce documentation for a major construction project
Integrate a range of software applications that extend the value of the Building Information Model
Propose technical options for typical engineering project using BIM authoring tools
