Description

This module seeks to build upon learning at level 7, further advancing knowledge into critical areas of psychiatric nursing practice. It gives particular focus to clincal risk associaiated with psychopharmacotherapy. It also consideres the pathophysiology and clinical presentation of subtle and acute homeostatic changes in psychiatric care.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate understanding of the clinical risk associated with the delivery of psychopharmacological treatment.

  2. Demonstrate the ability to safeguard against the clinical risk associated with psychopharmacological treatment.

  3. Demonstrate the ability to recognise clinical complications consequential to psychopharmacological therapy.

  4. Describe the pathophysiology of acute medical presentations of relevance to practice as a psychiatric nurse.

  5. Describe the pathophysiology of acute neuropsychiatric presentations of relevance to practice as a psychiatric nurse.
