Blockchain, the technology which underpins the Bitcoin cryptocurrency, has potential business use applications which go beyond electronic payment system functionality.

The objective of this module is to provide students with a hands-on introduction to blockchain technologies. By the end of module, students will comprehend the abstract nature of blockchain, outline the positives and negatives of blockchain technologies, be able to discuss the characteristics of blockchain technologies and differentiate the nuances between permissionless (public) and permissioned (private) blockchains.

The module will include real-world case studies and provide insights on blockchain solutions and blockchain fundamentals. The module will also examine how companies can migrate to blockchain technologies. Students will learn specifics about blockchain characteristics, cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, tokenization, GDPR, decentralized applications, the future of blockchain and much more.
