Business PC Applications

To introduce and familiarise students with the production of period end accounts using accounting software. To consolidate and expand the student's range of spreadsheet skills in a variety of business functional areas.

1. Produce a set of period end accounts from that periods processed transactions and accompanying trial balance after making the necessary adjustments for closing stock, depreciation, accruals and prepayments.

2. Consolidate their existing manual knowledge and understanding of trial balance adjustments and the production of final accounts.

3. Summarise and manipulate data using spreadsheet lists and pivot tables.

4. Develop financial and quantitative models using good spreadsheet practice.

5. Create and document a Decision Support System (DSS) by selecting from their range of spreadsheet skills and in applying those skills demonstrate initiative and creativity.

6. Develop further their research, analytical and problem solving skills.
