Coaching Science/Education 1- athletics and Team sports

Description

The purpose of this module is to provide students with the key elements of coaching practice and to develop an understanding of coaching, planning, communication, organising effective coaching sessions. Students will learn these skills through theory and a series of practical sessions.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify and demonstrate the rules, principles, and demands of athletics, and selected team sports

  2. Define key elements of organising coaching sessions and key elements of organising ‘effective’ coaching sessions

  3. Evaluate and describe the coaching process, including cues and developmental learning experiences and importance of communication

  4. Develop and deliver a coaching session on an athletics event and selected team sports session

  5. Achieve foundation coaching accreditation from associated sport awarding bodies.
