This module is an introduction to the conservation of historic buildings, their features and materials and the appreciation of world architecture from pre-historic to modern day architecture.

Learning Outcomes

  1. RECOGNISE buildings from World  Architectural History from pre-historic times to modern times.

  2. DESCRIBE various styles of buildings in European and World History.

  3. REVIEW historic architecture and its context.

  4. IDENTIFY the works of specific architects who have been recognised through history.

  5. DESCRIBE and differentiate between the different historic architectural styles.

  6. DISCUSS the legislative framework that governs architectural conservation.

  7. DESCRIBE historic buildings in the form of NIAH.

  8. DESCRIBE the historic features of a building.
