Contemporary Issues in Nursing

Description

The module aims to facilitate students in developing a critical awareness and knowledge of contemporary issues in Nursing.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Explore the influence of political and socio-cultural factors on nursing as a profession and a practice.

  2. Critically discuss key themes of advanced practice, clinical decision-making, patient safety, evidence-based practice and advanced nursing roles in nursing and healthcare.

  3. Analyse ethical and legal issues which have implications for contemporary nursing practice.

  4. Critically analyse the concept of climate change, sustainability and their relevance to nurses and nursing practice.

  5. Appraise contemporary concepts in nursing including person-centred care,  interdisciplinary care, collaborative and consumer-directed care.

  6. Analyse the role of Health Humanities in nursing
